Stanlaw Cullman (Nikey) Robbins, 96, of Elizabethtown passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama on November 26, 1916, son of the late Arthur and Laura Priest Robbins. He moved to Bladen County in 1929. Mr. Robbins was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served 3 ½ years overseas. He served with the 38th Engineer Combat Regiment, was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, and two Battle Stars for Normandy and Northern France Battles. He started Robbins Contractors Co. and built commercial buildings and residential homes. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, he served as Administrative Board Chairman for 15 years. Mr. Robbins was a member of the Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club and was club President from 1986-1987.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be conducted on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown with a one hour visitation (1:00pm) prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Elizabethtown City Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. Jay Winston and Rev. Bob Bergland.
Mr. Stanlaw Robbins is survived by his wife Grace Ham Robbins of the home, two daughters: Connie R. Gaines of Elizabethtown and Cynthia R. Duncan of Winston Salem, six grandchildren: Grace Snow and husband Randy, Robert Peele Clark Jr., Caroline Hall and husband Tony, William Duncan and wife Carmen, Autumn R. Johnson and husband Adrian and Cami M. Duncan, and nine great grandchildren: Sebastian Duncan, Eva Grace and Holly Snow, Jordan, Robbie, and Porter Clark, Kendall, Morgan, and Samuel Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 106 S. Marvin St, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
