Steve Davis, 78, of Bladenboro passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 14, 2025. He was born and raised in Bladen County, the son of Dewey Robert Davis and Myrtle Blackmon Davis.
Steve was a pillar in the Oak Grove Community. He was well known for the family Catfish Farm Business and for his dedication to helping others. He enjoyed getting out on his golf cart, chatting with folks or checking in on his neighbors. He would give you the shirt off his back if he knew you needed it. Every year while he was able, he spread Christmas cheer by playing the local Santa Claus and sharing the love of the season. Giving to others just came naturally.
Steve was a loving family man and a proud grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson Steven and telling others about his accomplishments. He spent most of his life working with heavy equipment and he could fix just about anything. When not working, Steve enjoyed hunting, cooking catfish or oysters and quiet evenings at home. The love he so freely gave, and his quick wit will live on forever in the hearts of all that knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are daughter Prissy McAnulty (Wally), and four grandchildren Jessica Campbell, Steven Causey Schnepf (Emily), Porter Pope, and McKnight Pope. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Kitty Davis, and his children, Ricky Davis, Bill Causey, and Charlene Davis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, September 16th at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 17th at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow the services in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the wonderful family members and friends who took care of Steve over the years especially as his health declined. They would also like to extend an additional thank you to the staff of Liberty Hospice, and caretakers, Renee Davis, Amy Dudley and Alyssa Butler for all the care and support during this difficult time.
