Tammy Hargrove Todd of Surf City, formerly of Bladenboro, NC, entered into eternal rest on April 3, 2025 at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare in Wilmington, NC. She was surrounded by her loving children, and extended family.
Born on February 12, 1959 in Robeson County, NC to H.B. Hargrove and Grace Jane Hester of Bladenboro, she was a 1977 graduate of Bladenboro High School. She was a florist and business owner, but much of her adult life was spent as a mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
Tammy’s favorite destination was at or near any ocean. She spent as much time as possible on the islands of Sunset and Ocean Isle beaches; a genuine Thalassophile. She came from a long line of avid “fisherwomen” but nothing made her happier than a salty breeze, sand under her toes, and a book in her hand. Tammy had a loving, cheerful disposition. Her smile was infectious, her demeanor warm and welcoming. She stood ready for an impromptu road trip to eat Calabash seafood or to have family and friends in her home. Her cooking was phenomenal, and it was routine to have family and friends ask her to prepare their favorite dishes. She enjoyed spoiling them and never tired of extended visits. Such a beautiful soul who will always be loved.
In addition to her parents, Tammy is predeceased by siblings: Joan Mishue (1990), Charles Hargrove (1998), Doris Gulledge (2010), Frances H. Penny (2013) and Shelby H. Storms (2013). Left to cherish her memory is: Dr. Timothy Todd, spouse, of Surf City, children: Britton Simmons of Orlando, Fla., Austen McGough and husband John of Surf City and the ‘apples of her eye’ grandchildren: Kylie, Caleb, Christopher, and Cameron McGough. She is also survived by sisters: Carol Hester of Tabor City, Charlene Fulk of Cornelius, many nieces and nephews, and her adorable canine companion Sofie.
A memorial service will be held at The Gathering Church in Surf City, Friday April 11, 2025 at 5:00PM.
