Teresa Ann McDuffie Johnson, 47, of Florence, SC, passed away on June 30, 2025, at the MUSC Health-Florence Medical Center in South Carolina. Born on September 3, 1977, in Robeson County, Teresa was a beacon of love and support to all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Teresa dedicated herself to her career as a hairdresser, often going above and beyond to assist young girls with their hair for prom, especially those who were on a fixed income. Her generosity spoke volumes about her character, as she was known for her big heart and commitment to helping others. An active member of the Friendship Baptist Church, Teresa not only embraced her faith but shared it with others through teaching Sunday School and working diligently in Vacation Bible School. Her church family provided her with deep connections and a sense of belonging that she cherished throughout her life.
Teresa was a true people person, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her involvement in community service showcased her passion for making a difference and uplifting those around her. She found joy in her hobbies and interests, which included playing the piano, singing, baking delicious treats, and expressing herself creatively through writing poetry. Above all, she loved spending time with her family at the beach, creating lasting memories with her loved ones.
She is survived by her father, Virgil McDuffie and his wife Faye of Council; her mother, Betty Moore McDuffie James and her husband George "Tump" of Galivants Ferry, SC; her sons: Austin Dave Johnson and Jaxson Grant McDuffie, both of the home; her brother, Virgil Wayne McDuffie and his fiancée Linda Marie Young of Nakina; and a host of friends and family who held her dear.
Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Ernest E. Moore and Eunice McLean Moore, as well as her paternal grandparents, N.R. "Doc" McDuffie and Princie M. McDuffie.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 5th in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Council with Reverend Corey McMillian officiating service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society in Teresa's memory.
Teresa's legacy of kindness and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for the time she shared and the beauty she brought into the lives of so many.
