Thomas Ray Clemmons, affectionately known as “TR”, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the age of 93. He was the devoted son of the late Lloyd Lee Clemmons and Ada Lee Hester Clemmons.
TR was a devoted, compassionate family man. The best moments of his life were spent at family gatherings and times with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hosting meals at his home for his friends and family sharing laughter and good food. No one ever went away hungry, and he always made sure you took a little something home to eat later. Some of his favorites were fish, roasted oysters, and ice cream. TR was a friend to everyone, and you could often find him on the front porch to greet you with a wave, a smile and a good conversation. His gentleness, sense of humor and compassionate spirit will dearly be missed.
TR was preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife, Gracie Lee Clemmons, and six siblings, Jerry Lee Clemmons, Oneal Clemmons, David Clemmons, Elneeda C. Mitchell, Mary Lee Rouse, and Estelle C. Duncan. Left to cherish his memory are son, Dennis Clemmons (Gail) of Bladenboro, daughter Terry C. Odom (John) of Hope Mills, sister Virgie Mae Clemmons Williams of Bladenboro, three grandchildren, Marcus Clemmons (Brandi), Brenda Porter (Jody), and Crystal Clemmons, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Salem Church in Clarkton followed by a funeral service at 2 pm with the Reverend Charlie Tatum, Reverend Jerry Atkinson, Reverend Rick Weirdman, and Reverend Leroy Wright officiating. Services will conclude with a burial in the Singletary Cemetery on Old Boardman Road in Bladenboro.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice and caregivers, Rick, Jackie and Teresa for all the love, support and prayers during their father’s sickness. You all have truly been a blessing to us.
