Vann Sproull Robeson, a dedicated man of faith and resolute spirit, passed away on September 9, 2025, at the Angel House Hospice Center in Whiteville, North Carolina. He born on October 24, 1942, in Cumberland County, North Carolina, and grew to embody a life filled with purpose, conviction, and love for his family, friends, and the community.
In a world where values sometimes falter, Vann stood firm as an unwavering beacon of Christian faith. A proud member of Trinity Holiness Church in Lumberton, his deep beliefs shaped his character and the way he touched the lives of others. As described by his son, Vann held steadfastly to his convictions, living each day with a heart full of love, hope, and an abiding trust in God.
He was the owner and operator of a thriving construction business, Vann Robeson Construction, through which he provided for his family as well as helped to build many dreams with all those he came into contact with. Among other things he enjoyed farming as a hobby. At the time of his passing, he had 40 chickens and 10 acres of corn.
Vann is survived by his devoted son, Vann Garian Robeson, and his beloved daughter-in-law Carrie, who reside in Florida. He found immense pride in his granddaughters, Mollie and Savannah Robeson, who brightened his days with their laughter and spirit. He also leaves behind his son-in-law, Rick Berenger, whose presence in the family has been a source of comfort and companionship through the years.
His earthly journey has now crossed the threshold into eternity, where he is joined in spirit with wife Flora Lee Robeson, his dearly departed parents, Percy Robeson and Dorothy Hynmen Robeson, and his cherished daughter, Deborah Lee Berenger, who passed just a few days before him.
As the sun sets on Vann's storied life, he leaves behind a resounding message for future generations: to accept Christ and work hard. These simple yet profound words encapsulate the essence of a man who dedicated himself to the betterment of those around him, and whose legacy will resonate in the hearts of many for years to come.
Family and friends are invited to honor Vann’s memory during a visitation with family and friends at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, on September 13, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at Tatum Grimes Cemetery in Tar Heel, North Carolina, at 2:30 PM.
