Virginia Frankie Long Hainsey, born on October 31, 1948, in Bladen County, departed this life on July 30, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington at the age of 76. Virginia was a beloved member of her family and her community, cherished by those who knew her for her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit.
Virginia's life was defined by her deep love for her family, which was evident in the way she dedicated herself to her loved ones. She is survived by her daughters: Tina Restivo (Tony) of Leland and Cherie Miller (Ray) of Fuquay Varina; grandchildren: Travis Dennis (Shayna), Trevor Dennis (Jessica), Austin Collum, Christopher Collum (Shelby), Ethan Collum, and Hannah Miller; great-grandchildren: Aubrey Black, Logan Black, Leila Dennis, Julie Dennis, Archer Dennis, Chandler Collum, and Charlotte Collum; brother, Ernest Ray Long (Phyllis) of Clarkton; adopted son, Brian Skinner and best friends, Zola and Alma King.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Dewey Long and Isabelle Callihan Long; her husband, Chuck Hainsey; her brother, Robert Long; and her sisters: Jane Skinner, Martha Ann, Kathy, Nancy, Mable, and Gladine.
Known for her interests in sports, Virginia had a particular fondness for the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed spending time at the beach. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was reading, dressing up, or shopping. Breakfasts with her friends Zola and Alma King were moments she cherished. Most notably, she had a special bond with her dog Mollie, who brought her much happiness throughout her life.
The family will receive friends from 2-2:45 PM on Sunday, August 3rd, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, both at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Reverend Michael Skinner officiating service. Following the service, Virginia will be laid to rest in the Clarkton City Cemetery.
