William Mangum Dunham, Jr., age 91 of White Oak passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was a quiet man that was slow to anger. He loved his family dearly and loved having them close to him. He loved farming, his cows, Carolina Basketball and the Detroit Tigers. He was a member of the Ruritans in White Oak, and was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the Army World War II. He was born on February 7, 1921 in Bladen County to the late William Mangum Dunham, Sr. and Clyde Robinson Dunham.
William was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Madge Hackett Dunham and Myrtle Dunham; two brothers, James and Durwood Dunham and one sister, Sue D. Soder.
He is survived by three sons, John William Dunham and wife Jene of New Bern, Richard Dunham and wife Barbara Melvin Dunham of White Oak and Steve Dunham and wife Debbie of White Oak; two daughters, Kay Brake of Charlotte and Linda Bryant and husband Michael of Raleigh; one brother, John Ira Dunham of Eastover; one sister, Virginia Dunham of Charlotte; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 31, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 11:00 am at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in White Oak with Rev. Jonathan Mills and Rev. Maurice Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethlehem UMC, 72 Bethlehem Methodist Church Road, White Oak, NC 28399
